I'm trying to turn my slow-speed (5-8mph) wind into a slow stream of compressed air for running a well pump a few minutes a day. I'd heard of the windcompressor.com guys, and I'll write to Mr. Hochstettler. It seems to me that this should be a much less expensive and more common device. I haven't found someone with a CVT (continuously variable transmission) that will sell one. Despite many novel designs, there are no sellers of actual devices - just holding companies. A normal wind blade system coupled to a CVT and standard piston compressor with outdoor-rated components - doesn't seem difficult, but I guess not enough people want to buy it so it's just a scale question keeping the prices very high and the components impossible to find.

I'm VERY surprised I haven't stumbled across a Chinese-made unit matching my needs, since this is the kind of technology that I'd expect to find being used everywhere in SE Asia.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14714366809582473009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6720895508800507532.post-58471364297334217462013-01-22T16:07:34.873-08:002013-01-22T16:07:34.873-08:00There is a web site that has information on windmi...There is a web site that has information on windmill powered air compressors. http://windcompressor.com/ They show several different sizes and the output of each size.windmill guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01904414048084891737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6720895508800507532.post-78831160791724019182011-10-30T14:06:15.633-07:002011-10-30T14:06:15.633-07:00Hi Mick!

I know he's made some wind pumps for Amish farm water systems.

MickMickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09058893780999651690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6720895508800507532.post-67645932269171026862011-01-03T11:13:04.111-08:002011-01-03T11:13:04.111-08:00Mick, have the class come up with a new wind pump ...Mick, have the class come up with a new wind pump design? I sell these systems and my supplier, Airlift in CA, has retired from the business. So I am looking for a product to sell. Airlift pumps are used all over for pumping water. For high lift, one needs a piston or vane compressor. For low lift, like trench irrigation, a centrifugal air blower will work. It is simply a matter of psi=2.3Xlift (in ft).

My alternative source for low-speed turbines is China. I would prefer to find (or create) a north american source. = = =JohnJohn Clothierhttp://cisolar.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6720895508800507532.post-66776449214636431892010-07-20T02:30:28.591-07:002010-07-20T02:30:28.591-07:00It exists, is in production in small numbers, and ...It exists, is in production in small numbers, and is for sale, although typically only to other Amish businesses and farms, and without a tower.

Your client should write to

Winpressor Co.
C/O Mr. Ervin Hochstettler,
336 Stagecoach Road
Unity, Maine,04988

Being an Amish business, there's no email, web page or the like. I have a client who has heard of the wind turbine you mention in your article, for the purpose of collecting and compressing air. Is such a thing in production at this point? She'd love to have it, and I've offered to help find it, if in fact it exists.Shawn Barghouthttp://shawn@thedesignerseye.comnoreply@blogger.com
